Artist Biography
Chris Lucas is
a finger-style guitarist from Richmond, VA. Over several decades of
playing and learning, he has incorporated a masters degree in
composition with various influences into a unique, personal style.
Former classical sensibilities are wedded with the eclectic ideals of
artists such as
Bruce Cockburn,
Nick Drake,
Michael Hedges,
John Renbourn, and
Joni Mitchell to form Lucas' own
distinctive personality and musical signature.
His debut 1998 album, Flood On The Ground, is a profound work that
literally compels repeated listening - rarefied ground with faith and
finesse meeting in perfect harmony.
At The Speed Of Life, is the second promising release from Chris Lucas
in 2002 with critical acclaim from NPR, Billboard magazine associate
editor, Gordon Ely, and others. "Speed" is a more straight-ahead,
acoustic guitar featured approach: chock full of crafty song-smithing
and four dexterous solo instruments.
